Wellness Wednesday
              What are you eating?
Matthew 4:4 KJV
Physical nourishment is not sufficient for a healthy life; we also have spiritual needs. 1 Corinthian 15:44
When Christ said to the tempter, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God,” those were the same words He said to Israel in the wilderness. Deuteronomy 8:2, 3.
In the wilderness, when all means of sustenance failed, God sent His people manna from heaven; and a sufficient and constant supply was given. This provision was to teach them that while they trusted in God and walked in His ways, He would not forsake them.
The manna that God provided the Israelites physically and spiritually preserved them. The coriander seed resemblance, white, and taste similar to a wafer made with honey, nourished their physical needs. But waking up every morning and going out to find the manna that God said would be their six days a week, and on Friday they were instructed to gather twice as much—since there would be no manna coming down on Saturday, the day of rest, fed their faith and supported their spiritual growth.
Are you eating a balanced meal? Are you nourishing your physical and spiritual health? Just as you go to the kitchen, or to your favorite restaurant to satisfy your physical appetite. You must also go to God’s Word to feed on God’s promises, God’s law, God’s protection, God’s direction, God’s peace, God’s forgiveness, and God’s wisdom to foster your spiritual maturity.
Every day you need a fresh serving of God’s Word. Yesterday’s meal served its purpose, today, open the Bible and see what’s on the menu. David encourages us to “Taste and See that the Lord is Good” Psalm 34:8.
