Over the past decade, I've noticed most people, even those who display themselves as being very aware spiritually, butchering the word "chakra". I wrote about it in a free ebook I have available on my site evolvingmandala.com

It all started during the New Age movement decades ago, when someone decided that "chukruh" didn't sound beautiful enough, so they softened the sounds. However, the problem with this is that it completely distorts the energy of the word. Sanskrit is a language based on a more universal language where every sound carries with it a vibrational frequency that is at a specific resonance. When you change the sounds, you change the energy of the word...and how it affects your body and thought-forms.
