Regular physical matter accounts for just 5% of the universe while dark matter makes up 27% of it. We can't observe dark matter but we can see its gravitational effects on physical matter. This has allowed scientists very recently to map out dark matter in the universe, especially the filaments that connect all galaxies, even galaxies outside of out gravitationally held together galactic supercluster.
A few areas of this new map of the cosmic web, Indra's net, can be seen here. When you see the universe from this big-picture perspective, you can see how the universe really is like a giant Universal Mind, with neurons being galaxies and axons being the interconnecting filaments.
