Huge New Study: Natural Immunity Much More Protective than Vaccine Immunity.

@COVID19Up: A study that has been called by Bloomberg News “the largest real-world analysis” comparing natural immunity from recovery from a COVID infection to vaccine-induced immunity has concluded that natural immunity is much more effective. The study found the risk of infection and hospitalization is many times higher for people who have only been vaccinated compared to people who have recovered from COVID.

The study concluded that people who were vaccinated were six to 13 times more likely to get infected compared with unvaccinated people who had recovered from the coronavirus.  After adjusting for comorbidities, the study authors found that those who were only vaccinated had a 27-fold higher risk of developing a symptomatic COVID infection compared to those who had already recovered from a previous infection and remained unvaccinated.

According to an analysis of the study in Science Magazine online, the risk of hospitalization was eight times higher among the vaccinated group versus those who had recovered from a previous infection.

The study also concluded that people who had recovered and received just one dose of the Pfizer vaccine reduced their risk of infection about 50% more from their already comparatively low levels.

“It’s a textbook example of how natural immunity is really better than vaccination,” said Charlotte Thålin, quoted by Science Magazine.

The study authors used a large Israeli health database to compare tens of thousands of already vaccinated people with the same number of unvaccinated. The study recorded 8 hospitalizations among those already vaccinated but only 1 hospitalization in the previously infected group.  No deaths were recorded in either group.

The study brings into question the logic of “vaccine mandates” which aim to force people to get vaccinated regardless of their previous infection status.

One possible shortcoming of the study is that people voluntarily went in to be tested to see if they were re-infected, so if vaccinated people were more likely to get tested again to see if they were infected as compared to the unvaccinated, that could confound the study results.

The study is a preprint and has not been peer-reviewed.

The study was covered online by Bloomberg News, Science Magazine and Medpage Today as well as a small number of news outlets based outside of the United States.  But a Google News search appears to show that it was totally ignored by every other major US outlet, including all major newspapers, wire services and broadcast networks.
