It’s been a sun-sational journey! Since 2008, HDB has been deploying solar panels to harness solar energy for a greener and more sustainable Singapore.

So far, we’ve committed a solar capacity of 455 MWp – about 85% of our target – across our HDB estates. The generated energy is equivalent to powering approximately 114,000 4-room flats, and is used to power services such as lifts and lighting in common areas.

Another fun fact On average, we have been able to achieve net-zero energy consumption for the common areas of HDB blocks where solar panels have been installed.
