You can't defeat people of faith, with advancements in worldly matters. The suffering helps the people of faith, it strengthens the generations which rise and win these generational wars. Kashmiri militants use a poem in their videos which revolves around the same theme, history is evident that powers who were very proud of their progressiveness in science or intellectualism were defeated by cavemen with faith.

Translating the poem in English won't do justice but here it is, a beautiful poem written by Allama Iqbal (1877-1938)

"Those who rushed forward with the splendor of the Eagle,
Emerged plucked of their wings and plumage;

While The Stars of evening sank in the blood of sunset, but rose again.

Those who swam under the sea were drowned by the ocean;

But those who suffered the buffeting of the wave arose, and became pearls.

Those who Prided themselves on their Alchemy are the dust of the wayside;

But those who kept their forehead upon the dust emerged as the makers of Elixir.

Our slow-running messenger brought the tidings of life;

Those to whom lightning gave news emerged unknown

The great mosque of Mecca was disgraced by the lack of foresight of the old keepers;

But how our tartar heroes emerged as young men of vision.

Those who Soar aloft and light the sky say to this Earth;

'These earth-based creatures emerged more lively, more stable and more shining'.

In the world people of faith live like the sun;

Here they sink, there they arise, there they sink, here they arise!

The certainty of indivuals is the Capital of building the community;

This is the power which draws the portrait, of the fate of the community."
