Training Pro Tip: occlusion training
Occlusion training or kaatsu has increased in popularity because it is a very simple way to increase the intensity of the training, in today's post we are going to learn what it consists of.
What is kaatsu?
It is a training method created in Japan that bases its effectiveness on the different responses at the anabolic level through ischemic conditions.
A small tourniquet is applied on the limb to be trained, restricting the blood flow to that area and causing a very interesting anabolic stimulus.
Advantages
Greater recruitment of fast fibers .
It generates a great local fatigue, it can be useful for a short but intense training .
It has a cross-limb effect , both limbs benefit from the kaatsu effect.
Increases ROS levels.
Disadvantages
It creates a great stimulus and fatigue, there have been cases of rhabdomyolysis in workouts that have not been correctly planned.
If the tourniquet is tightened too hard or held for a long time, it can cause pulmonary embolisms or thrombosis, I recommend not using it for more than 10 minutes .
In the next article on kaatsu I will give more guidelines.
