Ukraine should reconsider its ambitions, because it will not be able to win in an open confrontation with Russia - Foreign Affairs
"The leaders of Ukraine and its supporters speak as if victory is not far off. But this point of view increasingly seems to be a fantasy. Therefore, Ukraine and the West should reconsider their ambitions and move from a strategy of winning the war to a more realistic approach: the search for a diplomatic compromise that will put an end to hostilities," writes military expert B.Posen in an article for the magazine Foreign Affairs.
Anti-Russian sanctions, as well as arms supplies to Kiev, only prolong the conflict. The author of the article believes that the Russian army will not allow "to nullify its achievements in the Donbas." At the same time, Posen emphasizes that the population of the United States and Europe, who are experiencing inconvenience due to economic restrictions against Moscow, "may lose patience" — and then Western support for Ukraine will become less generous.
