2024-06-05 06:35:12 The Clever Woman:

Once upon a time there lived a king. His name was Shahryar. He and his brother Shazaman got married to two evil sisters incidentally. When days passed Shahzaman's wife cast an evil spell on his husband. So he died of a bad disease.

The news reached the king Shahryar. He felt sorry for his brother Shahzaman. So he ordered his brother's wife to be put to death as a punishment. Just then some holy men came there to see the king and the princess.

But the queen humiliated them and punished them. When he heard the news he ordered to execute his wife also. He decided to take revenge on women. So he took an oath himself to marry everyday a girl and kill her the next day itself.

From the next day onwards, he married a woman and the next day morning he killed her for some reason. As days passed he continued his oath. So all the women were killed except one. She was one of his minister's daughters. Her name was Shahitha Banu. She was very clever and a good storyteller.

The particular day came for her marriage. As she was intelligent, she worked out a plan in her mind. After the wedding was over both the king and Shahitha Banu were in their room. She asked the king to permit her to tell him a very interesting story to entertain him. The king allowed her to tell the Story.

As she planned before she started to tell the story, “Long long ago there was a king XXXXX. He had his son XXXXX….."

The story I continued till late night and till the morning. But the story did not come to an end. Banu stopped for a while and said, “Now it is morning you have court work in the day. So I will continue the story today night".

The king should have killed the queen in the morning. But he wanted to know the continuation of the story as it was very interesting. So he postponed killing her.

The next day night also the queen began to tell the story, but she extended the story endlessly. The story continued for several months. As days passed the king became very fond of the queen. So the King decided not to kill her. She had won his heart by her clever stories.

The intelligent queen won the king’s heart and made him realize that all women were not wicked. They lived long and ruled their country long.‌‌

2024-06-03 04:45:08 The Bull and The Ass:

Long ago there lived a gifted farmer. He had a bull and an ass in his form. The former was able to understand what the animals spoke. It was a gift by given god from his birth. The bull was used to plough the fields and the ass to carry the goods to the market for sale. So both the animals helped him very much.

On a particular day the bull and the ass were taking their food in the garden. When they were eating their fodder, the ass was talking to the bull in a low voice. At that time the farmer passed by. He heard the voice of the ass and quickly hid himself behind a big tree to listen to the talk.

The ass pitied the bull for it was working hard all the day in the field. But the ass just carried very little load only in the evening. It also said, “I am eating food the whole day, but I work very little. But you work hard for the whole day with the same food I have".

The bull replied that it was right, but it could do nothing against the master farmer. The ass gave an idea to the bull that it should pretend as if it was sick. The bull also accepted it happily. The farmer heard all these and was ready to face the situation.

The very next day the farmer went to the backyard with an idea. He went near the bull to take it to the fields. The bull quickly said in a low voice that he could not even move his legs. Now the farmer readily agreed and said, “Ok, you take rest today. I will take the ass today".

So he moved towards the ass and dragged the ass with him to the filed to plough. That day the ass had to work in field very hard. The ass came back in the evening in a totally exhausted condition. The bull cheered the ass and said, “I shall act to be sick tomorrow also and take rest".

“No, No" the quick voice came from the ass “don’t pretend further".

The ass said, “The farmer was very angry with you today because. I couldn't satisfy him". Further the ass told the bull that the farmer was ready to sell it to a butcher if it acted further. So the ass asked the bull to get up early in the morning. “We should not hesitate to do our work the Ass said.

The farmer heard the conversation He smiled and thought that the ass had learnt a lesson. It also advised the bull to work faithfully for its master.‌‌

2024-06-01 04:25:09 Test of Demon for Honesty:

Once upon a time there lived a poor merchant. One day he returned from the market in the evening. As he was tired he sat down on a shady three to take rest for a while. Leaning on the tree he began to eat a pocket of dates. After eating the dates he threw the nut behind.

There was a frightening sound around him and the entire place was shaking for a while. The merchant stood up terrified behind the tree. He saw a wicked demon with an ugly face. On seeing the demon his legs started shivering and he could not stand firmly on the ground. “

“You silly man why are you throwing stones on me? I was sleeping calmly. You have disturbed my sleep. You have to die for this". It shouted in a thundering voice.

Some how the merchant gathered his courage and said, “Majesty, I don’t throw stones on you. I had no idea to disturb you. I just threw the nuts of dates that I have eaten. I am very sorry. So please forgive me".

But the demon said, "You are cheating me with your cunning words. I will kill you now".

The poor merchant pleaded to the demon. "If you want to kill me, you can kill me after my last wish". The demon asked, "What is that?" The merchant requested, you allow me to go to my house once. I will settle my debts to the others and say last words to my family before my death".

The demon believed his words and allowed him to do as he liked. But it asked him to come the next day itself. The merchant went to his house and settled all his debts and said with tears. “I am to bind my promise to the demon. So I want to go now to the demon".

The Demon saw the merchant coming back to it as he promised. Then it wanted to test his honesty. "I am very happy now. I want to test you now. I will ask the first three men passing by about you. If they talk good about you, I will leave you to go home". The demon said and waited for three persons.

The first man came there. He was old. The demon stopped him and asked him, "Do you know this merchant?"

The old man said, "Yes, I know him very well. He is very kind of me and helped me when I was robbed by the thieves". The Demon felt happy.

The second man came. He was a judge. The Demon stopped the judge and asked, “Do you know this merchant", The judge replied that he brought a man who cheated him in the trade. When I gave punishment to him, the merchant asked him to forgive". The demon smiled for a while.

The third man came. He was a very rich man. The Demon asked him the same question. The rich man thought for some time and then said, “Yes, yes, he helped me once to start my business, with his help now I am very rich".

Then the Demon was quite satisfied and said, “I think, you are a good man really. You go home and join your family and live long."

The merchant thanked the Demon and the three men on the way. Then he returned back home and lived happily.

2024-05-28 05:38:36 Return of Princess and Her Ruby:

Long years ago, Zaman was the Prince of a small Arab kingdom. He went to a nearby forest with his Princess Badora for a camp. After the meals the Princess removed all her jewels to take rest in the tent.

When the Princess put the jewels beside her, a bird flew down fast and took a jewel with a Ruby stone. On hearing the sound of the flying bird she cried for help “Alah! My precious stone."

The Prince said "Don't worry. I will surely get it back dear." He soon hurried towards the direction of the flying bird which took the jewel The Prince ran very fast as he could.

But it was very difficult for him to chase the bird by land. In a few minutes the bird was far away and finally went out of sight.

He said. ‘What can I do now?" He had gone very deep in the thick forest and finally he lost the way and stopped there for a while. There he remembered the Princess Badora. He thought 'Alah my Princess was alone in the camp. I shall go back fast to meet the Princess."

He tried to return back through thorns and thick bushes At end he reached the place where he left the Princess. But for his shock there was no Princess. So he cried, “O my dear Badora! Where are you dear?" But it was in vain. There was no reply from his wife.

Princess Badora had waited for some time there. She was scared by the forest animals. So she wandered here and there and finally came to a Kingdom on the other side of the forest. The Kingdom was ruled by King Aram. She narrated what happened in the forest. King Aram took pity on her and allowed her to stay in his Palace till her husband Zaman rescued her.

But Zaman was wandering here and there and came to a beautiful garden. He was very tired and could not walk too. So he wanted to take rest in the garden for a while. He sat under a shadow of a big tree At the top, some birds were fighting with each other. He saw keenly what they were trying to snatch from the other bird. To his wonder one bird dropped something from her beak. When it came down, it glittered brightly.

Zaman jumped quickly and picked up the glittering object before the birds tried. On seeing the object he shouted in joy, “Here is my wife's Ruby" I am very lucky. Oh! God."

And put it in his bog but he felt sod because he missed his Badora and could not find her anywhere in the forest.

After some days Prince Zaman reached the Kingdom of King Aram. There he came to know that a new Princess had arrived to their palace some days ago. He prayed to God. "Oh God! It Shall be the princess Badora!" He wanted to find the princess in disguise. So he disguised himself as a merchant and took a jar of honey to the King Aram's palace. There he dropped the ruby stone in the jar of honey and asked a guard to present it to the new Princess only.

The guard gave the jar to the new Princess. The Princess asked her servant to pour the honey into a pot To her surprise, she found the ruby stone in the jar which was stolen by the bird in the forest. As she found the ruby she shouted in joy…oh! My ruby."

Asked herself, “How did the merchant get her Ruby? "Soon the Princess ordered her servant to bring the merchant to her.

Immediately they brought the merchant before the Princess Badora. On seeing the walk and face of the merchant, she identified her prince and said “ O Prince, Are you in disguise?" The Prince Zaman cried in joy, 'O princess, my Badora!’

Soon both of them met the King Aram and the Prince described the past incidents to him. King Aram sent them with greetings to their Kingdom.

Zaman's sincere effort was fruitful. The Princess got her ruby and the Prince got his Princess Badora.

2024-05-24 05:38:59 Greediness can make A Man Blind:

Long ago there lived a merchant Abdullah. He was very rich, but he was very greedy. One day he loaded his forty camels with costly spices to sell in a far away city in Arabia. He sold all the spices there. He halted in an inn to have lunch on the way back. There a Holy man met Abdullah and they became friends then.

The Holy man described about the secret land of enormous wealth.

"I also have heard about it “ Abdullah said with a smile.

The Holy man said, “If you bring your camels there, we will load a lot of precious stones like diamonds, rubies and gold." Abdullah nodded his head as a symbol of acceptance. The Holy man further said that half of the load should be given to him. Abdullah thought that it was reasonable. So he agreed the offer.

Both of them travelled and reached the land fully surrounded by beautiful mountains. The Holy man sprinkled some white powder on the ground, taken from a small box he had. Suddenly clouds of smoke came from the powder. After, all the smoke had settled down, he saw a way there. When both of them went through the path they found a cave with full of gems and gold coins.

The Holy man asked Abdullah to come in. He moved inside the cave. There he saw the treasure which he never had seen before. He quickly took them and filled his bags and loaded them on the camels. When he completed the loading of all the forty camels, the Holy man told Abdullah that he should take twenty camels, as his share.

On hearing that Abdullah said to the Holy man, “ why are you in need of such a wealth?, you may take only ten. I will take thirty".

The Holy man agreed to that with a smile. Some time later, the greedy Abdullah again said, “Even the ten would be a burden to a Holy man like you, so you may take five only".

Again the Holy man agreed. But Abdullah was not satisfied with that. So he asked him to give the five also to him. The Holy man nodded his head with a smile.

Even then Abdullah was not satisfied. So he again asked him to give the magical powder too as the Holy man needed it no more. Only then the holy man warned Abdullah that the powder might cause danger if it was not used properly.

Further he said that it turned everything to gold when rubbed on the left eye. “But you would be blind if you rubbed it on your right eye’’he said.

As his greed grew more, Abdullah did not care about the danger. He compelled the holy man to give the powder. After a while the holy man gave the magical powder with the box and left the place.

Abdullah could not control his curiosity. He quickly started to rub some powder on his left eye. All of a sudden the entire thing which he saw with his left eye changed into gold. Then he thought that if he rubbed the powder on both the eyes, the whole world would turn as gold.

Ignoring the warning of the Holy man, he rubbed the powder on his right eye also. At the very next movement he became blind. He cried with pain and said,"God…I was too greedy". But it was too late, for he had become totally blind.

2024-05-23 05:52:40 Falcon saved His Friend The King:

Once upon a time in the country of present Turkey, a king ruled a kingdom. He was very fond of hunting. He was a famous hunter in the kingdom. There was no one to beat him in hunting in his country.

The King had a loyal and intelligent pet Falcon. He took the falcon wherever he went for hunting. On one such hunting expedition, the falcon sat on the king's shoulder when he rode into the thick forest. The servants also rode behind him watching the falcon seriously.

At a place he stopped and watched very curiously. He heard a strange noise. There he saw a gazelle and said “How beautiful it is!"

He was very much attracted by the its gracefull walk and the long, slender antlers. Suddenly he took his bow and arrow and aimed at the animal. But the animal quickly sped away from that place. The King and the servants chased it into the forest. But the animal dodged them to escape. It sprang between the trees and bushes and ran away into the thick forest.

But when the king continued his chasing, the servants could not follow him and stayed back. The king was isolated from his servants with his horse and falcon. The evening came. The King felt very tired and he was also thirsty.

He cried “Water! Water please!"

He moved here and there in search of water. He lost his way also.

Finally he came near a pond with little water. He quickly took his jar and filled it with water. As he was exhausted very much he brought the jar near his mouth, the falcon flapped its wings. The wings, which flung near the jar made the jar to slip and the water flowed out to the ground.

He cried’ “What did you do?" can’t you know, I am thirsty now!"

The King patiently bent down and refilled his jar with water to drink. When he tried again to drink the falcon again fluttered and spilled the water in the ground. Now the King got angry and said," Are you mad! Don’t you know my thirst? But the falcon continued its flapping around the king. So he thought that the falcon was an ungrateful bird. So he drew out his sward from the cover to kill the falcon.

But the falcon screamed and looked at the king. The King felt that the bird wanted to tell something.

So the king looked up and, there he saw some poisonous snakes on the branches of the tree. Then he knew that the water in the pond was full of poison dropping from the mouth of snakes. If the King drank the water he would be dead. But the falcon prevented its master from drinking the poisonous water.

So the King realized that the faithful falcon had saved his life. So he smiled at the bird and murmured, “ You are my good friend."

It also felt glad that his master understood its' good intention.

2024-05-21 06:13:20 Eye for An Eye:

Once there lived a prince. He lost one of his eyes. But now he was not a prince, he wandered here and there as a noble man.

One day he came to an Inn to stay for the night. He hired a room in the inn and stayed there in the night. As he liked the place very much he stayed there for days. The daughter of the Inn’s owner met him occasionally. She took pity on him and asked, how he had lost his eye. The noble man told her that once his father was a king of a country. When he was away to his cousin’s kingdom, one wicked minister cunningly killed his father and came to the throne. While he was returning back to his country, his men captured him on the way. The Minister ordered to take the left eye. “This was how I lost my one eye" he said in a low voice.

The daughter of the inn asked him, “why did the minister take your eye?" he said.

"The minister wanted to take revenge on me. It was also a separate story." Said that prince.

He then continued, “In my young age, I was wandering with bow and arrows. When I was shooting, it had hit the minister's left eye unexpectedly. So he lost his left eye and he was awaiting a suitable opportunity to revenge me. So he captured me when I returned to my kingdom. I begged for mercy and told that he did not blind his eye purposefully. But he didn't listen to my words and blinded my left eye and sent me from the kingdom to the forest. I was wandering in the forest for many days. One day the animal hunters took pity on me and brought me here. Since then I have been staying here." He finished.

The Inn owner’s daughter said, “Your life story touched my heart and this should not happen to any one. Then the noble man left the place and went on his way.

"You don't worry. I will go to my father and win his heart and then tell him. Who I am," Ahamud said.

So he decided to join the army. He won the heart of the Sultan by doing courageous deeds. He won many battles for the Sultan. So the Sultan gave him a high position in his army.

The two princesses, his brothers, became jealous of Ahamud. So they argued with his father not go give more importance to Ahamud. One day the two princes went for hunting in the forest. They didn't turn up late in the evening. The Sultan got worried and sent soldiers in all directrons. But they returned without the prince. So Sultan asked Ahamud to find his two princes at any cost.

2024-05-18 06:12:25 Alibaba and The Forty Thieves:

Once there lived a woodcutter in a village in Arabia. His name was Ali Baba. He was very poor. One day he was cutting the trees beside a mountain near by. Suddenly he heard some hoofing sound. So he climbed up the tree to watch seriously and carefully.

There he saw forty men riding on the horses back and went towards the mountain raising dust on their way. All of them wore masks on their faces. He thought they must be thieves. He watched carefully what they were doing. They all stopped before the mountain. One of them must be the chief, got down from the horse and walked towards a huge rock in the mountain. He stretched his hands and called ‘Open seesee…"

The rock slowly moved to one side with a noise of friction. There was a narrow path in the mountain. Ali Baba found that it was a cave. All the thieves got down from the horses and carried heavy bags on then back inside the cave. After all of them went inside, the door closed Ali Baba watched it with anxiety. Some time after, they all came out of the cave and rode back as they came. The door closed again after the forty thieves came out.

Ali Baba got down from the tree and walked slowly near the rock. He also stretching his hand and called loudly "Open seesee"!

Suddenly the door of the rock opened, slowly. Ali Baba went inside the Cave. The door closed again. In the center of the Cave Ali Baba saw lot of precious gems and jewels on a small stage. Gold and silver coins were also found everywhere there. On the other side he saw diamonds in an open box. Ali Baba was in wonder and he didn't see such amounts of wealth at a place.

He was stunned for a while, but in a very short time he filled a sack with as much as he could and returned home. Ali Baba showed his wife the sack full of precious gems and gold. His wife was shocked for a while on seeing the wealth.

He said, “our worst days come to an end from today".

His wife replied, “We have become very rich in a single day".

He wanted to weigh the wealth he had in the sack. His wife went to borrow the weighing machine from Kasim All Baba's rich brother. As Kasim's wife was a suspicious woman, she wanted to know the reason why she got the machine.

So she applied some gum at the bottom of the weighing machine. Ali Baba's wife brought the machine and weighed the coins. When she was weighing, a gold coin stuck at the base. She returned the machine to Kasim's wife without knowing that a coin was under the machine.

When Kasim's wife saw the coin under the machine she and Kasim become jealous.

As Kasim was a wicked and greedy man, he wanted to know the secret of Ali Baba's wealth.

Kasim learnt the secret from Ali Baba. He went to the mountain. Standing in front of the cave he said loudly" Open seesee!"

The door opened. After he entered in, the door closed again On seeing the wealth he shouted in joy “All are mine from now".

He quickly filled his sack and came near the door and said “Open Sasee!" But the door didn't open. "Open kasee" he said again, but the door did not move.

Kasim had forgotten the words OPEN SEESEE to open the rock door. So he got stranded inside the cave. He tried again and again but in vain. After some time later, the forty thieves came to the cave They entered the cave and found Kasim inside the cave with a sack full of gold.

"What? A new thief inside…cut his head" the chief ordered in a high voice when they came out.

They killed Kasim and threw him away outside the cave. As he did not come back to his house till the evening, his wife got worried. He went to Ali Baba's house and asked for help. He went near the cave. He saw the body of his brother near the rock door. He cried. 'Oh God, why were you so greedy? He took the body home. His wife thought that It was the punishment given by God for her greediness

Ali Baba murmured some thing and wept for his dead brother.
