SINGAPORE - Group representation constituencies (GRCs) were introduced into Singapore’s electoral system in 1988 to ensure a minimum level of minority representation, but have moved so far away from their original purpose that they should be abolished, said Progress Singapore Party Non-Constituency MPs Leong Mun Wai and Hazel Poa on Wednesday.
