Scholarship for foreign students studying in Japanese graduate school

The scholarship up to ¥200,000 per month by the Honjo International Scholarship Foundation is open to foreign students who study or plan to study in Japanese graduate school for doctoral or master’s degree. Applications can be submitted from abroad as long as an applicant is accepted to Japanese graduate school. All nationalities and research fields are welcome.

Scholarship for graduate foreign students in cultural or human sciences

Mizuho International Foundation selects Japanese universities (state, public, private) and requests them to recommend the candidates for the scholarship with a monthly allowance of ¥100,000. Scholarship is available for international students admitted to a Japanese university or college on a graduate level and majoring in either cultural science or human sciences.
