Fall on deaf ears
To be ignored( you're wasting your advice/ words on the listener.)
You're giving advice to someone, but the person is not listening to anything.
This expression is often used regarding young people. No offence, but young people often think that they know everything. They don't like to listen to older people 'with more experience'.
Examples:
Arsi: Did you tell them how to raise chickens?
Esi: Yeah
but...
It fell on deaf ears. They think they know everything already.
My teachers' advice never falls on deaf ears with me .
But...my Mom's advice?
This is my reaction to my Mom's advice .. Mom's advice falls on deaf ears with me!
