Reach out
Meaning: to contact someone or to communicate with someone.
Examples:
I've gone to a lot of job interviews where they weren't very interested, and they said, "Well if anything opens up, we'll reach out to you."
I do reach out to prof if I have any question. It just means, "I contact her." It can be via e-mail or via text message.
If one of your friends says they are looking for a job, you can say: "Oh, I'll reach out to my old boss and see if she can help you."
