Epic Games raises $2 billion to build its own metaverse

Epic Games has announced that it has raised $2 billion to create its own metaverse as part of its latest funding round. The Fortnite developer intends to use the money raised "to further the company's vision to create a metaverse and support its continued growth."

The funds came from Sony, which previously invested in Epic, and investment group KIRKBI (both invested $1 billion). The latter is run by the family of the legendary Danish entrepreneur Kirk Christiansen, the founder of LEGO.
