2020-08-19 11:32:29 The Rust Foundation

https://blog.rust-lang.org/2020/08/18/laying-the-foundation-for-rusts-future.html

The long-term initiative and efforts of Rust project on independence in its development from mother company Mozilla now has it's direction and advancement!

Niko Matsakis wrote about plans on Rust Foundation already in January, but the story itself has a long roots:

http://smallcultfollowing.com/babysteps/blog/2020/01/09/towards-a-rust-foundation/

The main reason to organize an independent foundation is that Rust is already neither the project and nor the development of one company.

2020-07-15 15:02:36 Zero-cost HKT in Rust

This article propose the use of a quantified class constraints as an extension to type classes and as a solution to provide statically-sized and therefore statically compiled, and thus zero-cost (i.e. without run-time dynamic dispatching of types) higher-kinded types (HKT) in Rust!

http://blog.ielliott.io/sized-hkts/

Here's the code which is demonstrate the solution using quantified class constraints:

https://github.com/LightAndLight/sized-hkts

PS: There's also exist more earlier RFC proposal to addition of generic associated types (GAT) to the Rust type system as a solution for statically complied zero-cost abstractions of a higher kinds, which is still isn't resolved:

2020-05-08 17:41:19 Keybase acquired by Zoom

https://keybase.io/blog/keybase-joins-zoom

https://blog.zoom.us/wordpress/2020/05/07/zoom-acquires-keybase-and-announces-goal-of-developing-the-most-broadly-used-enterprise-end-to-end-encryption-offering/

Personally I hope that in the near future both companies will win from this acquiring and would collaborate effectively, Zoom will get strong end to end encryption for group calls and KeyBase will get a good quality conference audio & video calls for KeyBase Teams and KeyBase Chat. Will see how this expectations will justify.

2020-04-03 22:38:54 The most clear and comprehensive article about differences between C++ and Rust in side by side comparison of these languages

https://www.apriorit.com/dev-blog/520-rust-vs-c-comparison

Highly recommend to read.

The series of tutorials by Apriorit about basics in Rust programming language are also really good and exhaustive as an introduction:
