“.. Labor Day 2021, brings new focus and new directions ahead for so many of us. COVID-19 brought new dimensions in ways forward.

And for me, it brings the affirmation of a purpose - a calling that has been answered. A vision that has a long road to go - where I have to stand tall, strong and connected above everything.

I’m elected, the people elected me, they elected the kid with all that baggage, all that history that they knew - whom they can google, handle with or keep sharp, and that’s who they want to run things and that’s who they want to be involved in designing their future.

This process gets me settled into being more myself, the suit and tie will come off from time to time, and they will miss me sometimes in the protection of greater good but it is all because if you want to be great, you have to love it, have passion for it and be able to make sacrifices for it.

So we tend to forget that we are also humans and citizens of our community sometimes, first and foremost, we live in those communities that we represent, and we have to remain true to those communities and true to ourselves and true to where we come from because that’s what we’re representing.

We have to learn from the past behind, move forward and embrace the destiny in the most greatest forms. …”

De Gouverneur van Curaçao, mevrouw L.A. George-Wout, heeft hedenmiddag de heer C.H. Peterson verzocht om als formateur over te gaan tot de vorming van een kabinet dat de steun heeft van de politieke partijen Movementu Futuro Korsou (MFK) en de Partido Nashonal di Pueblo (PNP).

Het nieuw te vormen kabinet dient te bestaan uit personen die bereid en in staat zijn om op een integere wijze daadkrachtig en evenwichtig uitvoering te geven aan het nog af te ronden regeerakkoord. Aan de heer Peterson is verzocht om er op toe te zien dat in het regeerakkoord op concrete wijze aandacht wordt besteed aan de uitdagingen die eerder zijn benoemd in de informatieopdracht (armoedebestrijding, het herstel van de overheidsfinanciën, de economische ontwikkeling, aanpak van achterstanden in het onderwijs, herstel van de infrastructuur, verbeteren van de gezondheidszorg en de aanpak van criminaliteit).

Met het oog op de urgentie van de problemen waarvoor het nieuwe kabinet zich gesteld zal zien en de vele lopende zaken, is tevens overweging gegeven om in het regeerakkoord ook de nodige aandacht te besteden aan de wijze waarop het nieuw te vormen kabinet van plan is de samenwerking binnen het Koninkrijk vorm te geven. Daarbij is benadrukt dat het van groot belang is dat het beleid dat van overheidswege wordt gevoerd bijdraagt aan perspectief voor de bevolking en stabiliteit en rust in onze samenleving.

De heer Peterson is tevens verzocht te verzekeren dat de Landsverordening integriteit (kandidaat-) ministers bij de formatie in acht wordt genomen.

De heer Peterson heeft de formatieopdracht in beraad genomen en zal uiterlijk op 19 mei rapporteren over de uitkomst aan de Gouverneur en haar tussentijds op de hoogte houden van de voortgang van zijn werkzaamheden. Open / Comment
