Thomas Tuchel's Full Post-Brighton Press Conference:
Thomas Tuchel on concerns over form: "We won twice against Tottenham and some other fixtures. I don't even know the last seven games in the league so I can't tell you that."
Thomas Tuchel on Brighton performance: "We are tired, mentally and physically. You can see it in our performance. It's as easy as that."
Thomas Tuchel on how to resolve bad form: "I answered this question 100 times. If you look at our situation of key players injured, Covid and schedule then you will have the answer."
Thomas Tuchel on triple change being made too late: "If I had the impression we needed it earlier I would've done it earlier. You never know. We could've done it earlier but we had to wait to see if Brighton changed their structure... Marcos [Alonso] was on a yellow card, so that is why we decided to do it then."
Thomas Tuchel on how badly Chelsea need day off: "So, so badly. You can use the excuse but it is like this. Look at the schedule, when we arrived at Man City we had a Carabao Cup match and we arrive here and they had more time to prepare. We have played since November; we play and play and play. We need to recharge the batteries and disconnect. This is my feeling. We will use Friday and Saturday to prepare for Sunday against Tottenham."
Thomas Tuchel: "It is very tough to play at Brighton. The noise at full time was like we lost the game and this can give you the impression we lost. But we didn't. Other teams will struggle to get points here [Brighton] and it's tough when you're at full strength and you're not tired. I refuse to be angry. It's not about the ambition. We were lucky to be one goal ahead. We struggled to show the quality and we know the reasons. We demand a lot for us but it is not the time to be too harsh with the team."
Thomas Tuchel on schedule: "We are so happy we have four days. Look at our last week and you know what we are talking about. Within seven days we had three away games and it's not only about playing, it's about travelling and not sleeping. We don't complain now but I am explaining why a performance looks like this in the middle of January against Brighton. If you tell me before this never happened to #Chelsea before or another Premier League team I would laugh. It's happened."
Thomas Tuchel on Romelu Lukaku's performance: "I don't want to talk about single questions. There are too many questions about Romelu and too many answers about Romelu."
