An official document from the New Zealand Health Department in the early 1900s.

Note especially the points marked in red:

To avoid infection
A). Live, work and sleep in pure fresh air (NOT restrict oxygen by wearing a mask resulting in inhalation of bacteria)
B). Eat good food and excercise in open air (Not lockdown and quarantine people inside rooms with no access to fresh air and limiting their excercise)
C). Be temperate in all things
F). Avoid fatigue, over work and stress

Advice to sufferers
D). Frequently expose your blankets to sun and fresh air. Remember nature's GREAT disinfectors are sunlight and fresh air

And just for a laugh: H). In relation to infected children - do not sleep with, fondle or kiss them....(must have been written with the "elite" or priests of the Catholic Church in mind...nope not sorry.
