1896: In St. Louis, during a dispute at the Republican National Convention, Edward Lauterbach the Chairman of the Republican New York County Committee (Tammany hall) was "taunted because he was an anti-Christ".

Repeatedly, a protestor named Mr Smith attempted to show among other things that Lauterbach was not even rightly a committee member but was ruled against many times and shouted down other times.
