On January 24, 1908, the Boy Scouts movement began in England with the publication of the first installment of Robert Baden-Powell’s Scouting for Boys.
Some say the first group met today, however my own research indicates that scouting groups had begun meeting together before this.
The first certificate was issued Jan 26, 1908 to the Glasgow scouting troop.
In August 1907, he had held a demonstration camp, the Brownsea Island Scout camp.
In 1910 Baden-Powell retired from the army and formed The Scout Association.
