Hi Thrive fam!

Last Friday we started the new series on relationships. Pastor Steve Winstead launched the series on a high note, discussing the following questions.

⁃ What does singleness mean according to the Scriptures?
⁃ How does the world view singleness, relationships, and marriage?
⁃ Why our years of singleness are significant for our spiritual growth? And how should we use that period?
⁃ What should we look for in a spouse?
⁃ How can we recognize the “one” chosen for us by God?

You can learn the answers to the questions and more on our Thrive podcast coming very soon on all streaming platforms. Be on the lookout for the links!

Relationship Series

Love, Dating, Marriage & Sex

In this series, we're going to be looking at these topics not in the way the world defines them but from God's point of view, the creator and source of all of them.

Acts 2:42-47

'They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.’

Last week, through Acts 2:42-47, we looked at the devotion to the apostles’ teaching about who Jesus is and to one another in gatherings in His name.

To those who are part of a fellowship, Jesus Christ is the center that connects all who choose to follow Him. As Christians, we share the same Lord Jesus, the same guide for life: the Bible, the same love for God, the same desire to worship him, the same struggles, the same victories, the same job of living for Him and His Glory, and the same call to evangelize.

Jesus is more important than any worldly possession. Fellowship reminds us that we are not meant to lead a selfish life, but rather a life of serving one another in a godly manner. The church is meant to worship God and learn His Word together.
In the book of Acts, we see what fellowship is and how deep it goes. We can see a genuine love between brethren- a family not necessarily connected by blood, but by the love for Christ.

So how can one be part of this kind of fellowship? The first step is to give your life to the Lord as your personal savior. Secondly, as Christians we need to build relationships with other Christians and form fellowship with them in His name. And lastly, you can use your talents and gifts in your fellowship.

Thus, Acts 2:42-47 show the beauty in fellowship. Although the book talks about a fellowship that was large in size, we can also be confident that as we gather, the Lord will continue to add to our numbers the saved souls.
