Washington — Former President Trump's blog, a lifeline to his followers after he was removed from social media platforms following the January 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol, has gone dark, less than a month after it emerged on the internet as a "place to speak freely and safely."

Hours after his blog was shut down, Mr. Trump's Facebook page was flooded with comments that he had been reinstated, but Facebook policy communications manager Andy Stone said its status had not changed.

"Nothing about the status of President Trump's presence on our platform has changed. He remains indefinitely suspended," Stone tweeted.
