A robotic snake rode a vertical tube
Japanese engineers developed a robotic snake with magnets in its wheels.
One of the purposes for which the engineers created the robot is to replace humans when working in hazardous environments.
"The robotic snake can ride on vertical structures without expending energy. The robot consists of eight sections that can rotate relative to each other.
The first and last sections are passive, while the six central ones have wheels with neodymium magnets on their surfaces. This allows the robot to stay on metal surfaces.
