Will there be a futuristic airport in Mexico City?Newly elected President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that a referendum will be held this October to determine the fate of the new Mexico City International Airport project. Work on the airport began in 2015, but it has not been decided whether the project will be completed.
The project, designed by Foster and Romero (Bureau of Architecture), is unique. The air terminal's design: 555,000 m2 of lightweight mesh walls and roof, serving six runways, as well as many stores, coffee shops and waiting areas.
The fate of the innovative airport will be decided as early as this year.Trends Review
