"Speed Racer," remember that one?
Apple has bought the rights to the series and according to preliminary information, it will be based on the events of the original "Speedy Rider" manga, published back in the 60s.
It will tell the story of an unusual racing team, featuring, in addition to Speedy himself, his father (aka the designer of the "Mac-5" car), his girlfriend Trixie, and his younger brother with a tame chimp.
This will be the second live-action version of the iconic Japanese character after the 2008 film, written and directed by Wachowski, starring Emile Hirsch.
