The Atacama Desert in Chile has a massive humamoid figure petroglyph on the side of a ridge. It’s over 10,000 years old and is known as the Atacama Giant. Stretching over 100 meters long, the Atacama Giant is one of over about 500 petoglyphs in the desert. The stark symmetry and geometry contains very strange horizontal and vertical figure. Additionally, there are sharp angles from different points that have caused some to link it to lunar cycles or celestial patterns. On the contrary, some believe it’s representative of how ancient people, perhaps Incan ancestors, communicated with gods inside a sacred place. The Atacama Giant could be how they attempted to ask the gods to return. Similar to Lake Winnemucca, nothing can be ascertained from the ground. The Atacama Giant can only be seen from the air.
