Happy Indigenous People's day everyone!

I thought I'd remake an old infographic I made showing the hypocrisy of indigenous categorisations by drawing a comparison between two ethnic groups with similar histories.

It's thought Indigenous Hawaiians descend from two closely related Polynesian tribes who would settle the islands at different times, The first (In dark red) in the 3rd century, and the second (In pink) roughly a thousand years later in the 1300s. Similarly, Native Britons descend from two closely related Northwest European populations, the first being established with the Indo-European settlement around 4500 years ago, and later the West Germanic peoples such as the Anglo-Saxons starting around the 5th century. (Marked in the respective colours)

It's clear "Indigenous" doesn't refer to the very first people, or even an ancestrally pure people, but a homogeneous and outwardly distinct population who's current form would develop in the region they claim indigeneity to.
