The Sun reported almost 3,000 asylum applications were made in the months of November, December & January in total.

Last year, Integration Minister Roderic O’Gorman promised to spend half a billion euro constructing 'own door' accommodation for all asylum seekers arriving in Ireland regardless of the merit of their claims.

Up to 90% of asylum seekers have failed their asylum applications in past years, but most are never deported.
