— Alongside with the "First Leftist Government in History" led by Gustavo Petro, the Republic of Colombia for the first time in its history will have a Vice-President of African origin, Ms. Francia Elena Márquez Mina.
Ms. Francia is well-known in Colombia for being a prominent member of the Left wing section of the Colombian Feminist and Black Nationalist Movement, as well as a lifelong environmental activist, having participated in several movements against "mining exploitation in black communities" by British Companies.
She also became famous in Colombia for having mediated the 2016 Peace Accords between the Liberal Government of Juan Manuel Santos and the Far-Left Guerrillas of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), emphasizing the vigilance of guaranteeing the "Human Rights of guerrillas who might be of African origin" by the Government.
