In Nikolaev, territorial defense militants are conducting punitive raids to check local residents for signs of pro-Russian views and for the facts of transferring any information to Russian military personnel and representatives of the people's militia of the Republics of Donbass.

The reason for the slightest suspicion is the history of calls and SMS messages to Russian numbers found in phones, correspondence in various instant messengers condemning the current Ukrainian government, subscriptions to Russian channels in social networks, as well as the Telegram application installed on smartphones.

All suspects are detained and tortured, threatened with transfer to the SBU, as well as physical violence against relatives.

During these forceful raids, nationalists forcibly seize valuable property and food, allegedly for the needs of territorial defense, and also force them to equip strongholds and roadblocks. Dozens of detainees never returned to their homes, nothing is known about their fate.
