Deep in Scotland's "last true wilderness" sits the UK's most remote pub- the Old Forge in Inverie. It's a single-story building built in 1880

Brian Boru (c. 941–23 to April 1014) was an Irish king who ended the domination of the High Kingship of Ireland by the Uí Néill and probably ended Viking invasion/domination of Ireland. Brian built on the achievements of his father, Cennétig mac Lorcain, and especially his elder brother, Mathgamain. Brian first made himself king of Munster, then subjugated Leinster, eventually becoming High King of Ireland. He was the founder of the O'Brien dynasty, and is widely regarded as one of the most successful and unifying monarchs in medieval Ireland. Brian was well regarded by contemporary chroniclers. The Norse-Gaels and Scandinavians also produced works mentioning Brian, including Njal's Saga, the Orkneyinga Saga, and the now-lost Brian's Saga.

Spotted my first Dragonfly of the year. The Irish for Dragonfly is Nathrach-Dé, literally "Gods Serpent". It's up there with the Ladybird (Bóín-Dé) "Gods little cow" for nice insect names.

Mountain Hare

Unlike the brown hare, which is thought to have been introduced by the Celts during the Iron Age, the mountain hare is native to Britain. However, it is only native to the Scottish Highlands and was translocated elsewhere.

Hopefully this is going to render well as images are often poorly compressed on Telegram, but this is a really great illustrated map showing both geography, and clan names and branches associated with certain locations across Scotland
