Blackbuck National Park, Velavadar

located at Velavadar in the Bhavnagar District of Gujarat state, India.

Flat land, dry grasses and herds of antelope have always attracted visitors to this park which has a grassland ecosystem. Successful conservation programs for the blackbuck, wolf and lesser florican (a bustard) are ongoing

A southern portion of the park, which adjoins the Gulf of Khambhat, is in the Gulf's high tide zone and gets inundated with water. However, its semi-arid conditions, together with this inundation of seawater during monsoon, creates habitats suitable for various dependent fauna of the park

2021-07-13 05:35:33 Desert National Park

located in the Jaisalmer district of the state of Rajasthan. Desert National Park is one of the largest national parks in India. The Desert National Park is also a protected sanctuary.

Desert protected sanctuary was declared as a National park in 1980. Total area of the National park is about 3162 km2. The desert is a harsh place to sustain life and thus most of the fauna and flora live on the edge

The great Indian Bustard is a magnificent bird and can be seen in considerably good numbers in this park. It migrates locally in different seasons. The region is a heaven for migratory and resident birds of the desert.

Desert National park harbours a wide array of flora and faunal species. It is only place where Rajasthan State Bird (Great Indian Bustard), State animal (Camel) and State tree (Khejri) and State flower (Rohida) are found naturally.

It also has fossil evidences dating back to the Jurassic Period indicating hot and humid climate characterized by dense forests. 180 million years old fossils of animals and plants are preserved at Wood Fossil Park at Akal, situated 17 km away from Jaisalmer.

The Desert National Park is a unique and fragile ecosystem. More than 60 per cent of it is simply semi-arid desert. The seemingly barren lands gradually dissolve at the horizon touching Pakistan. But the warm sands of the Desert National Park beyond Jaisalmer form a fertile micro broth hiding an astounding variety of animals and birds.

The Desert National Park is barren with several sand dunes and a few hills in the north-western region. The Park forms a vast sandy and undulating terrain

Other Attractions

Akal Wood Fossil Park – It is 17 km from Jaisalmer, holds a natural flora and faunas fossils that are estimated to be around 180 million years old. These fossils are quite rare.

Pokran – It is a fort town. Pokran has a museum of weaponry, brocade clothes.

2021-07-09 18:20:57 Ranthambore National Park

Ranthambore National Park is in Sawai Madhopur District of Rajasthan.
It is located at the junction of the Aravalli and Vindhya hill range.

Three big lakes – Padam Talab (meaning Lake), Malik Talab and Raj Bagh – are similar turquoises studded in the vast forest that abounds with aquatic vegetation including duckweeds, lilies and lotus.

Padam Talao: This is the largest of the many lakes located in the park. A red sandstone Jogi Mahal can be found at the edge of the lake.

A gigantic banyan tree, considered to be India’s second largest, is also near the lake, Padam Talao.

A significant geological feature within the park is the 'Great Boundary Fault' where the Vindhaya plateau meets the Aravali range.

The Rivers Chambal in the South and the Banas in the North bound the National Park.

Ranthambore National Park is probably the best place in the world to see wild Indian tigers in its only dry deciduous natural habitat even in the day.
