World Hunger Day is observed on May 28
Every year on May 28, The Hunger Project celebrates the World Hunger Day. The day was started in 2011 by The Hunger Project to raise awareness about the people living in chronic hunger worldwide and celebrate sustainable solutions to hunger and poverty and to inspire everyone to be a part of the solution! The Hunger Project is US based organization committed to the sustainable end of world hunger.

International Day of Action for Women’s Health is observed on May 28
The International Day of Action for Women’s Health (International Women’s Health Day) is observed every year on May 28 since 1987 to raise awareness on the issues related to women’s health and well being. Latin American and Caribbean Women’s Health Network (LACWHN) and Women’s Global Network for Reproductive Rights (WGNRR) launched the day.

Amnesty International Day is observed on May 28
Amnesty International Day. Amnesty International was founded in London in 1961, following the publication of the article "The Forgotten Prisoners" in The Observer 28th of May 1961, by the lawyer Peter Benenson. Citing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights articles 18 and 19, it announced a campaign on "Appeal for Amnesty, 1961" and called for common action. Amnesty International is a non-governmental organisation focused on human rights with over three million members and supporters around the world.

DRDO’s 2DG anti-COVID-19 drug priced at Rs. 990 per sachet
DRDO’s 2DG anti-COVID-19 drug has been priced at Rs. 990 per sachet by Dr Reddy’s lab. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said that 10,000 sachets of the anti-COVID drug will be available in the market. The 2-DG (2-deoxy-D-glucose), an anti-COVID-19 therapeutic application of the drug has been developed by the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS), a lab of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), in collaboration with Dr Reddys Laboratories (DRL), Hyderabad.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Odisha and West Bengal to review the situation arising out of Cyclone Yaas. He undertook an aerial survey of the cyclone affected areas in Bhadrak and Baleswar districts of Odisha and Purba Medinipur in West Bengal.

RBI imposes monetary penalty of Rs 10 crore on HDFC Bank for violation of provisions under various sections of Banking Regulation Act
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed a monetary penalty of Rs 10 crore on HDFC Bank for violation of provisions under various sections of the Banking Regulation Act. The central bank said in a statement today that this action is based on the deficiencies in regulatory compliance and is not intended to pronounce upon the validity of any transaction or an agreement entered into by the bank with its customers.

Prof CNR Rao receives Eni Award 2020 for renewable energy research
Bharat Ratna Professor C.N.R. Rao has received the International Eni Award 2020 for research into renewable energy sources and energy storage. It is also called the Energy Frontier award. This is considered to be the Nobel Prize in Energy Research. The Energy Frontiers award has been conferred for his work on metal oxides, carbon nanotubes, and other materials and two-dimensional systems. Professor Rao has been working on hydrogen energy as the only source of energy for the benefit of all mankind.
