Yesterday I was watching "Turning Point" - a documentary on 9/11 attacks on Netflix.

USA launched full frontal attack on Al-Qaeda in the aftermath of these attacks. It captured various alleged terrorists from Afghanistan and started interrogating them. The interrogation techniques that were adopted were inhuman to say the least. During interrogation, one of the leading commander of the terrorist grp, Ibn Sheikh revealed that Iraq was building weapons of mass destruction in cooperation with Al-Qaeda. USA used this info to launch war on Iraq(Saddam Hussain).

However after the war, inspectors of UN found no evidence of WMDs in Iraq. The whole premise of war turned out to be false.

When Ibn Sheikh was asked why did he give wrong information, he said- "you were torturing me so much so I gave you the information you wanted to hear"

Dear students, the anecdote tells us the importance of right means. A country was torn apart based on false information obtained thru unethical means

This is because the inhuman interrogation techniques aim at compliance and not cooperation. In the former, you give information for torture to stop.
