Did you know that Fort Canning was once known as ‘Forbidden Hill’? Prior to 1822, Fort Canning Park used to be known as Bukit Larangan, where ancient kings were believed to be buried.

Today, Fort Canning Park is a beautiful green oasis, situated within our city centre. The park offers a welcome respite to all, amidst the bustling city life that surrounds it. Next time you’re around the civic district, take a stroll through Fort Canning Park and immerse yourself in this realm of memories.

Got a secret to share? Speak into the microphones of this interactive art installation and turn it into light patterns! Send it to your friends and see if they can guess what you're saying

These installations are part of Body, Heart & Soul - a roving art installation organised by the Marina Central District, and supported by the Pilot Business Improvement District (BID) Programme. The installation offers an audiovisual experience through illuminating cubes that respond to audio cues. This precinct-wide initiative, run in collaboration with Singapore University of Technology and Design, is a great way to transform places in our city into exciting community spaces, using ground-up innovative programmes for people to interact with their environment and each other

You can catch Body, Heart & Soul at theSouth Beach Tower Lobby till 21 September!

When you think about our Central Business District (CBD), do you automatically think about underground connectivity? Most of us have used this underground pedestrian network connecting Raffles Place and Marina Bay Financial Centre, which takes us around many locations in the area without having to worry about weather or traffic conditions .

In land-scarce Singapore, underground spaces serve as a means of improving connectivity, so that more above-ground space can be used for housing, parks and community spaces, thereby improving our quality of life.

Take a stroll through the CBD with us to learn more about this extensive underground pedestrian network! Learn more about Singapore’s underground space planning at go.gov.sg/ura-undergroundspace

Happy 57th birthday, Singapore!

Today is an opportunity for us to reflect on how far we have come as a city and how we can bring Singapore forward to new and brighter horizons.

One way we are doing so is planning for the next 50 years and beyond for areas such as the Paya Lebar Air Base site in the Long-Term Plan Review. After the air base relocates, we could develop a new generation town where its unique past could be integral to its future development.

It could include:
A major job node with diverse, connected, and creative spaces
Distinctive districts anchored on its rich heritage
Green and blue spaces weaved into the new town

To find out more, visit go.gov.sg/ltprplab or the Long-Term Plan Review exhibition happening now at The URA Centre! You can sign up for guided tours too, at: https://spaceforourdreams.eventbrite.sg/

Artists and would-be artists: time to sketch an Early Shophouse! Check out the distinct features that make up the Early Shophouse Style, which dates all the way back to the 1840s. You can even visit one for yourself at Haji Lane, where regular road closures in Kampong Gelam have been reinstated as of 22 Jul this year.
