Soldiers from 2nd Brigade, 11th Airborne Division assisted with the recover efforts on Colony Glacier.
This is the 10th anniversary of the recovery, an annual joint-service endeavor in which service members head out to the ever-changing landscape to locate and bring back our sisters and brothers in arms from that fateful 1952 plane crash into Mount Gannett.
What's involved? Ice, glacial scree, crevasses, towering cliffs, constant risk, and working to discover where the movement of the glacier has transported the wreckage and remains. It's a sobering thing, but working to bring back our fallen is worth every minute of it.
