CALL FOR APPLICATIONS to become a member of the C5+1 Youth Council!

What is the C5+1 Youth Council?

In 2016, in partnership with the U.S. Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic, the American University of Central Asia created a dynamic C5+1 Youth Council that brings together Central Asian youth with diverse backgrounds, leadership skills, and mindsets for positive change. Since January 2021, C5+1 YC has been administered by the American Councils for International Education Kyrgyzstan.

The YC is a diverse group of Central Asian youth from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan. Every year new YC members are selected among students of Bishkek representing local Universities based on open competition which includes: application review and interviews, gender balance, diversity, and genuine interest in YC objectives. Currently, we have 65 YC Alumni and 17 YC members.
Starting from this year we welcome university students from regions of Kyrgyzstan to apply to become a member of C5+1 Youth Council.

What do we do?

The YC reinforces the U.S. - Central Asia (C5+1) joint goals of the Countering violent extremism (CVE), Central Asia Business Competitiveness (CABC), Transport Corridor Development (TCD), the C5+1 Power the Future project, and the C5+1 Supporting National and Regional Adaptation Planning that tackles issues of common concern. C5+1 YC members implemented such projects as 1) Investment Law Competition Moot Court; 2) Model C5+1; 3) Water Management Symposium; 4) Central Asian Youth Peace Talks; 5) Quiz Nights; 6) Regional Debate Cups; 7) Mass Media and Counterrorism in 2019/2020; Virtual Quiz Nights; 9) Virtual Debate Tournament with the involvement of youth from 48 Universities and 12 high schools from CA countries.

C5+1 Youth Council has been operating virtually since March 2020 due to pandemic.
