Cold War in Color XIV
Several members of Carrier Air Wing Six are seen above on 15 April 1983, waiting in line for gas. The jets closest to the camera are A-6E Intruders of VA-176 “Thunderbolts”. There are three A-7E Corsair IIs in the background, as well as two F-14A Tomcats, refueling from a KA-6D. CVW-6 was in work ups out of NAS Fallon, for an upcoming deployment onboard USS Independence (CV-62).
