Five countries set up a fund
UK, Canada, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA are setting up a fund. Its goal will be to raise funds to mitigate Russia’s destabilizing influence in the southern and eastern regions of Ukraine.
The fund will be called “Partnership for a Strong Ukraine” and will begin its work in December 2021. The participating countries plan to raise up to £ 35 million from donors over three years.
Funding will focus on initiatives that help build the capacity of conflict-affected regions, such as providing technical advice to the authorities or granting investment grants that create economic opportunities and improve access to public services for residents of southern and eastern Ukraine.
