The American University of Notre Dame (a Catholic higher education institution located in Indiana) is preparing for its next alumni celebration. President Biden (believed to be an Irish Catholic) planned to attend the celebration (presidents and vice presidents often attend the event at this prestigious venue), but the White House said he had to cancel the visit due to the tight schedule.

However, it turned out that the invitation to Biden was withdrawn by the university leadership due to a petition signed by representatives of the Notre Dame community. A total of 4,300 people signed the petition. The document says that the president "should neither speak at the ceremony, nor receive an honorary degree at it, since the public is alarmed by his pro-abortion program and anti-religious agenda."

The petition also says: “He [Biden] rejects church teachings about abortion, marriage, sex and gender and is hostile to religious freedom. He enforces the most violent government policy on abortion and anti-religious propaganda in history. The arguments against his veneration are immeasurable. stronger than against honoring President Obama. "
(Obama once spoke to university graduates in 2009, but a significant part of public figures did not come to the event in protest).

However, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon did not speak to the graduates of Notre Dame either. Donald Trump did not come to the university either, although he was replaced by Vice President Mike Pence, who was greeted with a standing ovation.
