Gaming to make the world a better place: nearly $200m donated to Ukraine by the gaming industry

levvvel has created a list of gaming companies, developers and streamers that have been donating to various Ukrainian charitable causes. To date, a total of $195,676,600 has been donated or pledged across these companies and their fundraising efforts.

Context: amidst the war, the Ukrainian government plead for gaming companies to pull out and cease any business in Russia. In response, Russia has threatened to legalize the piracy of software and other economic retaliation against companies.

russia, the largest mental institution in the world, has sent a diplomatic note to the Czech Republic stating that the country has no right to supply Soviet-made weapons to third countries without russia's permission, - The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jan Lipavsky

However, the Czech Foreign Minister said that this was nonsense, there is no such provision that prohibits the re-export of equipment. Lipavsky noted that the Czech Republic will not react to this statement.

Czech Defense Minister Jana Chernohova added that by blackmailing and spreading misinformation, the russians want to discourage countries from helping Ukraine.

No More ‘Have a Nice Day’: Lviv Learns to Live With War

Ukraine’s cultural capital, the western city of Lviv, is trying to adjust to being on the fringes of war and at the center of massive displacement.

When war came to Ukraine in February, Helen Polishchuk made some adjustments in the six-story bar she manages in central Lviv.

“When guests leave the restaurant we normally say, ‘Have a nice day,’” she said. Instead she told them they [the staff] could say something else, like “Glory to Ukraine,” or “We wish you blue skies.”
“Because to say ‘have a nice day’ in this period is stupid,”
said Ms. Polishchuk, 33.

“We don’t want to pretend that nothing has happened, we understand that it’s a war,” Ms. Polishchuk said. “But we want to create an atmosphere of somewhere safe.”

On the menu, borscht, the beet soup that had few takers before the war, is now the biggest seller. Ms. Polishchuk said it was patriotism and stress. “We understand that people want comfort foods,” she said.

Heart-warming news corner

The first modular houses arrived in Borodyanka, - the deputy head of the OP Kyrylo Tymoshenko.

They will be used as a temporary home to the rescuers and volunteers who are helping to rebuild the village. The same houses have already been ordered for Sumy and Chernihiv regions.

A stamp depicting a Ukrainian soldier making an obscene hand gesture at the Russian Black Sea flagship Moskva has become a collector's item for Ukrainians who see it as a sign of "victory".

"That ship was the biggest one they had.... They gambled a lot on it and we destroyed it!" said Yury Kolesan, 22, who waited for two-and-a-half hours to get a set of 30 stamps.

"It's a new phase of the war, one of victory!"

Ukraine's postal service last month launched a competition to illustrate the episode.

Out of more than 500 submissions, Lviv designer Boris Groh's winning entry shows a Ukrainian soldier from behind swearing at the warship.

It has proved a hit, selling out in many post offices and quickly appearing for resale online.

"We wanted to print more but the bombing last night in Kyiv affected the work of the factory and we did not manage to print the necessary quantity," Ukrainian postal service Igor Smelyansky told AFP.

russian morality hits rock bottom as a group of russians sue Netflix for a “violation of russian users’ right”

Russian Netflix users are suing the streaming firm for suspending its service as a result of Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

Netflix, which has only about 1 million subscribers in Russia, suspended its services in March and has halted the development and acquisition of all Russian-made or commissioned TV shows and films.

A law firm has launched a class action legal action against Netflix, which has more than 220 million global subscribers, on behalf of Russian users who believe the decision to block access is a violation of their rights.

The subscribers, who pay 599-799 roubles a month (£5.55-£9.26), are demanding 60m roubles (£560,200) in compensation.
