Ectopia Vesica ( bladder extrophy )

Congenital anomaly resulting from incomplete incomplete development of the inferior part of the anterior abdominal wall associated with incomplete development of the Anterior bladder wall .

The anomaly is 4 times more common in males and has incidence of approximately 1 in every 50,000 births .

As you can see the umbilicus is absent , the posterior bladder wall is exposed .
Usually associated with Epispadias ( meatal opening on the Dorsal aspect of the glans or clitoris ) , Bilateral undescended testis and bilateral inguinal hernia usually present while all together leading to the unclear cut gender determination at birth ( ambiguous genitalia ) qnd may even need karyotyping to determine the gender .
May have separation of the pubic bones , leading to waddling gate later in life .

Surgical treatment and follow up is indicated .
