TALIBAN TELLS WEST NOT TO TAKE REFUGEES

In his news conference in Kabul on Tuesday, the Taliban spokesman also addressed the US-led evacuation from the capital, Kabul.

>Afghans should not try to go to the airport, Mr Mujahid said, citing the chaotic situation there.

>The US should stop "encouraging" them to leave as Afghanistan needs their talents, he added.

>He added that, "Afghans belong in Afghanistan, just as Americans belong to America and Europeans belong to Europe. To live in a world of peace, we must recognize our own people and borders."

>"All those who have left Afghanistan should be returned so that they can contribute to their own country," a top Taliban official later told reporters in Kabul.
