The bicolor porcupine
Coendou bicolor is found in Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia.
It leads a nocturnal, arboreal, secretive lifestyle, but adult couples can live together in tree hollows. Moves slowly, while quickly climbing a tree. It feeds on leaves, fruits, seeds and bark of plants.
It moves slowly and can remain stationary for a long time. The prehensile tail and adapted legs allow it to move easily between branches. Prefers to settle in the hollows of trees higher from the ground.
This is a relatively small porcupine: body length 40-55 cm, weight 3-5 kg. The nose and lips are noticeable, tuberous, the eyes are small, black. The ears are small, inconspicuous, hidden among the fur.
The most amazing thing about it is, of course, the coloring! It was as if a maniac was running through the jungle with a spray can and generously sprayed it...
