The Malayan woolwing Galeopterus variegatus lives in Thailand, the Malay Peninsula and various islands of the Indonesian archipelago, including Sumatra, Java and Borneo.

Prefers, first of all, moist jungles in hilly areas, but is also found on coconut and banana plantations.

This kind of animal lives in trees and never voluntarily descends to the ground. These are solitary animals, occasionally you can meet several individuals on the same tree.

They use a gliding flight to move from one tree to another without touching the ground. More often they fly at a distance of up to 50-70 m, the record flight range was 136 m. The animals are active at night, spending the day in their shelter.

They are herbivores. They feed on flowers, leaves, buds and fruits.
