The African ferret (zorilla)

When a dog or other enemy appears, the zorilla ruffles its fur, raises its tail, and then uses the fragrant musky secret of its anal glands. The zorilla, like the skunk, can "shoot" its fragrant secret at considerable distances.
Although the smell of their secretions is not as "fragrant" and pungent as that of the American striped skunk, but, nevertheless, it is unpleasant and durable. When a strong enemy attacks Zorilla, she can pretend to be dead if there is nowhere to run.
Zorillas are distributed south of the Sahara: from Senegal and Nigeria to South Africa. Body length 28-38 cm, tail 20-30 cm. The weight of females is 600-900 g, males 700-1500 g.
This carnivorous animal feeds mainly on mouse-like rodents, hares, large insects, sometimes bird eggs, snakes and other animals. In a hungry time, carrion can also be consumed. Leads a nocturnal lifestyle
