The recent series of mass shootings in the United States was organized not only to change the Law on weapons.

Axon announces the development of a TASER drone to combat mass shootings.

Axon, the world leader in connected public safety technologies, has officially announced the start of development of the TASER non-lethal remotely operated unmanned aerial vehicle as part of the implementation of a long-term plan to stop mass shootings, and has confirmed its commitment to public participation and dialogue in the development process. This includes accelerating detection and improving real-time situational awareness of events related to active shooters, improving the efficiency of rapid response services through virtual reality training, and deploying remotely controlled unmanned aerial vehicles capable of disabling an active shooter in less than 60 seconds.

The non-lethal drone is part of a three-part strategy aimed at stopping mass shootings:

1. Integration of a network of cameras and other sensors into a real-time communication system with emergency response services.

"This network of cameras with human and AI monitoring, together with panic buttons and other local means of communication, can detect and identify a threat before a shot is fired, and significantly improve response time and situational awareness."

2. Improving the effectiveness of first response using Immersive Virtual Reality (VR) Active Shooter Response Training.

Axon recently launched virtual reality simulator training to provide immersive and engaging public safety training. Through partnerships with key expert and stakeholder groups, Axon will develop and deliver more effective mass shooting response training over the next 12 months.

3. Immediate disabling of threats with the help of remotely controlled non-lethal unmanned aerial vehicles.

All decisions on the use of force will be made by an authenticated and authorized operator-a person who has agreed to assume legal and moral responsibility for any initiated forceful actions. Axon cooperates with various drone equipment suppliers and will select the final development partner(s) at the end of this year.
A functional proof of concept will be available in 2023, and a complete solution will be ready in 2024.
