Russia must decide what kind of Armenia it wants to see - President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian said in an interview with Sputnik Armenia

“Russia is a great nuclear power with long imperial traditions, Armenia is a small republic with enormous potential.
We are talking about the Diaspora, which is extremely well integrated into the social and political life of most countries of the world - from San Francisco to Canberra. Additionally, the world is entering an era when network states will come to the forefront and Armenia has every chance of becoming one.

So, Russia must decide what kind of Armenia it wants to see: (1) The first is a weakened and extremely dependent country, where there is a constant struggle of narrow groups of influence, liberals, nationalists, radicals and populists always looking up to the "big brother". (2) The second is a strong Armenia, which uses all its resources and potentials to strengthen its authority and its ally, and advance its interests.

However, this is true only if both allies perceive the protection of the interests of the ally as their own. And also, if these relations are based on trust and predictability.”
