The Druze in the village of Shuya captured one of the Hezbollah operatives who were in the vehicle carrying the MLRS.

He received a couple of slaps in the face and generally looked a bit frightened.

One person posted on social media: "Shuya's Druze are better at enforcing UN Resolution 1701* than the Lebanese Army and UNIFIL are".

*Resolution 1701 was meant to resolve the 2006 Lebanon War - it calls for no presence of armed forces other than UNIFIL and the Lebanese Army (implying Hezbollah) south of the Litani River. Open / Comment

"Some of the collaborators who previously served in the SLA* played a key role in stopping a vehicle carrying the MLRS used to fire rockets at Israel, as it was passing through the Hatzavia area."

*SLA - South Lebanon Army, a Lebanese Christian-dominated militia that was founded during the Lebanese Civil War and was allied with Israel during that time, but has since disbanded Open / Comment

After firing the rockets today, Hezbollah operatives returning with the MLRS (Multi Launch Rocket System, with 11 out of the 30 rockets still in the vehicle) were stopped by the residents of the village of Shuya (belonging to the Druze sect) in the Hatzbia area. The operatives were not allowed to pass as the residents protested Hezbollah for endangering their village by firing rockets near their homes.

Hezbollah was forced to issue an official statement emphasizing that the firing of the rockets is a part of the organization's role as the "defender of Lebanon" and that they are committed to making sure that Lebanese citizens aren't harmed in the process.

I think the Druze acting openly against Hezbollah operatives can be a source of hope for Israel. When the latter offers humanitarian aid to Lebanese citizens, this is its target audience. There are many more such voices. It's just that voicing such opinions in public is not always an easy thing to do. Open / Comment
