Chinese trade data shows that North Korea abruptly cut all imports of Covid containment equipment such as ventilators, masks, thermometers in May.

Between January-April, Pyongyang had imported 10.6mn masks, 95,000 thermometers and 1,000 ventilators, as overall North Korea-China trade plummeted from $98.1mn in April to just $14.51mn in May.

The DoD completed its largest unclassified cyber defense exercise last week at the Army National Guard Professional Education Center in Arkansas involving over 800 civilians and servicemen from 20 states to drill internal network defense measures and cyber incident response.

After a week of training the cybersecurity service members were pitted against a team of hackers in exercises in the “contemporary reality” of cyber intrusion warfare.

National Guard Bureau chief Daniel Hokanson claimed the aim was to “enhance our nation’s cyber capabilities in combat and in the homeland.” Open / Comment

The US would perceive Russian attempts to negotiate a prolongation of the New START nuclear treaty as a sign of weakness, so no talks should take place unless Washington changes its behavior, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev argued Monday.

“Let them come or crawl and beg for it. And they should value it as an act of utmost generosity,” he added. “Otherwise, this is how it looks: they toss only sleaze our way, and we go, there, have this nuclear deal, please.”

Denmark is facing a gas supply crisis that could lead to a spike in energy prices and the closure of dozens of companies, according to Troels Ranis - director of Confederation of Danish Industry.

"We may end up in a real gas supply crisis with companies being at risk of closing down completely" he told Danish broadcaster DR.
